If you are new to Pyxis, and would like to see a demonstration of the program, download the file pyxmovie.zip to a temporary directory. Unzip this file, and run the pyxmovie.exe application. To view the movie, you will need Win 9X or Win NT, and a screen with a resolution of at least 800x600 pixels.

If you are installing Pyxis for the first time, you must download the file Pyxis20.zip. Unzip this file to a temporary directory and run the program setup.exe. The installation program will prompt you for a serial number. You can run the setup.exe file over a network.

We've had reports of some installs generating a BDE 'merging files...' error. If you encounter this error, download, unzip, and install the BDE 5.0 upgrade below - bde50.zip.

After installing the program, you'll need to do a couple things.
1. From the Start button, select Run... Copy and paste the line below to the run command box:

regsvr32 c:\progra~1\pyxis\vdraw2d.ocx

If you have installed Pyxis into a folder other than C:\Program Files\Pyxis, you will need to change the line above to reflect the program directory. You should receive a message indicating DllRegisterServer succeeded.

2. If you are sharing data on a network, you'll need to do the following. Start Pyxis. From the Data menu, select BDE. Change your Net Dir to a folder on the network, preferably the folder that contains you site folders. You'll need to change all user's net dirs to the same setting.

If you are only evaluating the program, use 'DEMO' as your serial number. When you use the program as a demo, you can open the sample sites by doing the following:
1. From the File menu, choose Site Manager.
2. The Site Manager will open. Click the Use Alien button.
3. Browse to one of the sample folders - be sure to double click the sample folder you wish to open. The directory name will appear at the top of the dialog box.
4. Click the OK button and the site will open.
